Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Falls To No. 3 La Crosse Posted: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team was unable to its groove and fell to No. 3 UW-La Crosse 44-5 at the McPhee Physical Education Center tonight. The win improves La Crosse's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet record to 6-0 on the season while the Blugolds fall to 3-2. La Crosse has been ranked third in the National Wrestling Coaches Association top 30 poll since January 29. The only match Eau Claire took tonight was at 133 pounds. Andy Miller (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./North) had no problem taking down La Crosse's Pat Parrillo, winning by technical fall with a score of 17-0. Miller improves to 15-10 on the season at 133 pounds. La Crosse had two ranked wrestlers here tonight. Tim Palmer, who is ranked No. 1 in the nation at 165 pounds, wrestled Eau Claire's Seth Hendricks (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./Turner). Palmer won by pinning Hendricks in 1:12. La Crosse's Josh Zabel, ranked fifth at 184 pounds, also won by technical fall over Eau Claire's Ted Sikowski (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./West) 19-2. The closest losses for the Blugolds came at 149 pounds, 197 pounds and at heavyweight. Andy Johnston (So.-St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS), Josh Holforty (Jr.-Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) and Nick Hoeft (Sr.-Merrill, Wis.) lost by seven, four and six points, respectively. The Blugolds were forced to forfeit at 141 and 174 pounds because of injuries, giving La Crosse an automatic 12 points. The Blugolds will next host No. 7 UW-Stevens Point this Saturday. The meet will begin at 1 p.m. in the Ade Olson Addition of the McPhee Physical Education Center. It will be the final meet before the WIAC Championships next Sunday.
