Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Drops First WIAC Dual Meet Of The Season Posted: Saturday, February 9, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team was unable to win its fourth straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet of the season, falling 17-25 to UW-Whitewater at the McPhee Physical Education Center tonight. The Blugolds drop to 3-1 in conference dual meet play, while UW-Whitewater, ranked 10th in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll, improves to 4-2. Whitewater fell to No. 8 UW-Stevens Point last night in Stevens Point. Josh Holforty (Jr.-Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) again performed well for the Blugolds, winning by major decision, 15-1, over the Warhawks' Jason Johnson at 197 pounds. Holforty, who is ranked sixth in the nation in the 197-pound weight class, improves to 26-5 on the season. Andy Johnston (So.-St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) also picked up a major decision win with a score of 14-4 at 149 pounds over Whitewater's Matt Schuck. The win improves Johnston's record to 21-10. Andy Miller (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./North), Jon Ames (So.-Viroqua, Wis.) and Nick Hoeft (Sr.-Merrill, Wis.) were also winners tonight for Eau Claire. Miller defeated Whitewater's Josh Miller 6-2 at 133. Ames took an 11-7 victory over James Gordon at 157 pounds. Hoeft picked up a big 2-1 win over Sean Evans, who is ranked 10th in the nation in the heavyweight class. Hoeft improves to 18-10 on the season.
