Women's Track & Field Wins Eastbay Invitational

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's track team won the Eastbay invitational held by UW-Stevens Point this afternoon.

The Blugolds won the event with a score of 125 points. Right behind the Blugolds was UW-Oshkosh with 123 points and the University of Minnesota-Duluth with 113 points. Other schools that competed in the event were Winona State University, UW-Stevens Point, Loras College, UW-Lacrosse, Beloit College, Coe College, Lawrence College, the University of Dubuque, and Ripon College.

The top performer of the day for the Blugolds was Liz Kooistra (Jr.-Lakeville, MN). Kooistra won both the 200-meter and 400-meter dash. She won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.14 seconds and the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.96 seconds. Kooistra earned 10 points for the Blugolds in each event.

In the one mile run, Mary Palmer (Jr.-Anoka, MN) and Hannah Humbach (So.-Madison, WI/Abundant Life) finished in second and third respectively. Palmer finished in second with a time of 5:14.61, and Humbach finished in third with a time of 5:16.05.

In the 3000-yard run Elly Prunty (So.-Antigo, WI) finished second with a time of 10:49.81. Prunty finished less than a second behind the first place finisher Allie Glasbrenner of Winona State.

The 4x200 meter relay team earned the Blugolds another 10 points with at first place finish. The team finished with a final time of 1:47.08.

On the field side of the event, Alicia Schuelke (Jr.-Gilman, WI), Haley Suckow (So.- Elk Mound, WI), and Amy Morse (Jr.- Kaukauna, WI) came up with points for the Blugolds.

Schuelke finished in a three way tie for third in the high jump with a jump at 1.50 meters. The third place tie was good enough for five points. Suckow turned in a first place performance in the pole vault which earned the Blugolds 10 points. Suckow winning pole vault was at 3.35 meters. Morse finished seventh in the weight throw which was good enough to earn the Bluoglds one point.

The women's track and field team will return to action next Saturday when they will travel to UW-Platteville. The meet is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.
