Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Tops Oshkosh In WIAC Dual Meet Posted: Friday, February 1, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Recording three pins, two major decisions and one decision, the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team defeated UW-Oshkosh 29-19 in the McPhee Physical Education Center tonight.
Brandon Page (Jr.-Holmen, Wis.) kicked off Eau Claire's winning at 125, pinning Chad Leviner in 3:45, his second pin of the season. Joey Miller (Sr.-Lake Tomahawk, Wis.), who came into the meet leading the Blugolds with five pins on the season, had another pin tonight. He pinned Oshkosh's Eli Felts in 5:38 at 174 pounds. Josh Holforty (Jr.-Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) had the third pin of the night for the Blugolds, winning over Oshkosh's Eric Kuchan in 1:51 at 197 pounds. Holforty is now 21-5 this season and is ranked No. 6 at 197 pounds in the latest NWCA Brute-Adidas Top 30 poll.
At heavyweight, Eau Claire's Nick Hoeft (Sr.-Merrill, Wis.) won 5-0 over Mike Kratz. Hoeft is now 12-9 on the season wrestling at heavyweight. Tomorrow the Blugolds will host the nine-team 30th Annual Blugold Invitational. The invte will begin at 9 a.m. at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Blugolds remain undefeated in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets with a 3-0 record, and are now 11-11 overall and 5-5 in dual meets. Oshkosh drops to 0-4 in WIAC dual meet play and 4-13 in dual meets overall.
Scoring one of two major decisions for the Blugolds was Andy Miller (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./North) with a 14-2 win over Jared Jaminski at 133 pounds. The other major decision tonight was scored by Andy Johnston (So.-St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) at 149 pounds, defeating John Dangles 11-3.
