Tue, Jun 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball To Host UW-La Crosse Posted: Thursday, January 24, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team hosts UW-La Crosse this Saturday and looks to build on a big win against UW-Stevens Point last night. The Blugolds are ranked 25th in both the D3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 polls. The Blugolds also are currently in first place of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 8-0 record. UW-La Crosse is 5-4 in WIAC play, and is on a three game winning streak that was extended with last night's 74-50 win against UW-River Falls. In their last meeting on December 8th, the Blugolds had a great first half scoring 37 points and only giving up 17. The Blugolds' defense was there because the Eagles only shot 21 percent in the first half and 0-11 from three point distance. La Crosse would come out better in the second half going on a 7-0 run early, but could not get any closer than nine. In that game, Heather Witt (Jr.-Kendall, WI/Royall) scored 17 points and was 3-4 from three point range. Heidi Arciszewski (Jr.-Thorp, WI) had 13, and Michelle Burns (Sr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) chipped in 12. La Crosse's Lindsay Wahl led all scorers with 20 points. Coming into Saturday's game, the Blugolds are shooting 46 percent from the field and the Eagles are shooting 44 percent from the field. The Blugolds are averaging 68 points per game and only giving up 56 points per game. The Eagles average 65 points per game and give up an average of 64 points per game. Heidi Arciszewski currently leads the Blugolds in scoring with 13.6 points per game. Michelle Burns is right behind averaging 13.3 point per game. Burns also leads the team in rebounding with a 5.9 per game average. Heather Witt is averaging 10.1 points per game, and leads the team in assists and steals. Mackenzie Hunter is the leading scorer for the Eagles, averaging 14.4 points per game. She also leads the team in steals and three point percentage. Lindsay Wahl is averaging 11.9 points per game and leads the team with a 5.1 rebounds per game average. This game is a doubleheader with La Crosse with the women starting at 3 p.m. and men tipping off at 5 p.m. at Zorn Arena. -SB- |
