EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - After two tough 3-1 defeats last weekend at the hands of UW- Stevens Point, the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team will look to get back on the winning track when they host Finlandia this weekend. In the most recent matchup between these two programs on January 12, 2008, the Blugolds defeated the Lions 4-0. The victory improved the Blugolds' record to 4-0-2 all-time against Finlandia.

Entering this weekend's series against Finlandia, the Blugolds post a record of 8-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play. The Blugolds' 5-4 record in NCHA play is good enough to place them in fourth place in the conference standings. The Finlandia University Lions are currently in sixth place in the NCHA with a record of 5-9-1 overall and 2-7-1 in NCHA games.

The, fourth place, Blugolds' leading goal scorer is Christine Dickinson (Fr.-Layton, UT/Shattuck St. Mary's). Dickinson has six goals in 16 games this season. In addition to her six goals, Dickinson also has five assists to give her a team leading 11 points. Kristin Faber (Fr.-Austin, MN) is another key offensive contributor on this Blugolds squad. Faber has 10 points in 15 games with five goals and five assists. In their last game against the Lions, both Dickinson and Faber recorded goals. Other players to watch for this weekend are Beth Dittrich (So.-Roseville, MN) and Maddi Hammer (Fr.-Owatonna, MN). Dittrich leads the Blugolds in assists with six, and Hammer has five goals on the season and tallied a goal and an assist last time the teams met.

In net, Danika Porter (Fr.-Rosemount, MN/South St. Paul) has started the majority of the games for the Blugolds this season. Finlandia is coming of a weekend series sweep of Concordia University-Wisconsin. In the sweep, the Lions recorded victories by scores of 5-3 and 7-2. Before sweeping Concordia last weekend the Lions had gone winless in their previous 10 games.

For the Lions freshman Katelyn McLean leads the scoring charge with 16 points. Her 16 points come from nine goals and seven assist. In addition to McLean, the Lions have three other skaters who have double digit points this season. Those three skaters are Danielle Syrowik, Ashley Leitch, and Kendra Benson with 14, 12, and 11 points respectively.

In net, Finlandia, much like Eau Claire, has spread out the work load between two goalies. Annika Danielson and Corinne Czekaj have started 9 and 6 games respectively between the two of them.
