Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball Hosts No. 2 Whitewater Posted: Thursday, January 10, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will welcome No. 2 UW-Whitewater (D3hoops.com) in game one of a doubleheader Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. Both the Blugolds and Warhawks are undefeated in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play this season. Eau Claire is second in the conference with a 4-0 record (10-3 overall), while Whitewater leads the conference with a 5-0 record (14-0 overall). Eau Claire bounced back Wednesday night with a 54-21 victory over conference opponent UW-Superior after losing two out of three games at the San Diego Surf N? Slam tournament in December. Against the Warhawks, Eau Claire leads the all-time series 38-18 and has split wins with the Warhawks in the last three seasons. The Blugolds, however, have also not lost to UW-Whitewater in Zorn Arena since February 21, 1987. Heidi Arciszewski (Jr.-Thorp, Wis.) leads the Blugolds in scoring with 14.5 points per game, which is also second in the WIAC. Michelle Burns (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./North) is second on the team with 11.8 point per game and also leads the team with 59 rebounds. Heather Witt (Jr.-Kendall, Wis./Royal) also has 10.1 points per game and leads the team with 48 assists, which also leads the conference, and 29 steals. The Blugolds are averaging 13.1 points per game more than opponents and are outshooting opponents 46.3 percent-to-35.5 percent. Eau Claire is also averaging 4.9 more rebounds per game than opponents (37.1-to-32.2). The Warhawks are also outshooting opponents 47.6 percent-to-36.8 percent and are averaging 26.6 more points per game than opponents. Whitewater is also averaging 7.3 more boards than opponents. Leading the Warhawks this season is Tiffany Morton. She is scoring 13.3 points per game, sixth in the conference, and also has a team-leading 112 rebounds, which is second in the conference. Kelsey Hendrickson is second on the team averaging 11.3 points per game and also leads the team with 37 steals, which is second in the WIAC. Lindsey Buechner is the only other Warhawk with a double figure scoring average. She has 10.9 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding with 81. - KM - |
