Men's Golf Places Fifth At Twin Cities Classic

STILLWATER, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team shot a three-day score of 918 to place fifth at the Gustavus Twin Cities Classic concluded here today at the Stillwater Country Club.
The Blugolds opened up the three-day event with a 299 at the Elk River Country followed by a 313 at the Links at Northfork in Ramsey, Minn. Eau Claire concluded the tournament with a 306 today.
Mike Greer (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) was the top Blugold finisher tying for fifth with an 8-over 224. Derek Pirkl (Jr.-Stoughton) followed Greer with a 12-over 228 and a tie for 14th.
Grant Lissick (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) shaved nine strokes off his second round score with a 74 today to move up 22 places and finish tied for 33rd. Tyler Leis (So.-Reedsburg) capped off a consistent tournament with a 79 today to tie for 49th. Mason Milner (Fr.-Onalaska) rounded out the Blugolds tying for 59th.
St. Cloud State took first as a team with a tournament score of 40-over followed by St. John's University at 43-over. St. Thomas took third with Central College coming in fourth. St. Cloud's Brett Swedberg and Illinois Wesleyan's Ryan Gumbel tied for first individually going 3-over.
The Blugolds will complete the fall season when they compete in the Gordin Collegiate Classic Saturday through Monday. The tournament will be held in Myrtle Beach, SC.
