Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimming & Diving Falls To La Crosse Posted: Saturday, December 8, 2007 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to UW-La Crosse today, with the men losing by a score of 136-103 and the women losing by a score of 176-67. Both the men's and women's team fall to 2-2 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets. The only Blugold winner for women's swimming was Angie Bakula (Fr.- Appleton, WI/West), who won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:03.08. Bakula also took second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:22.52. Amanda Kroger (Sr.- Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) took second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:04.62. Megan Lindner (Fr.- Muskego, WI) took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.14. Ann Grossklaus (So.- Wausau, WI/West) took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.11. The Blugold men had six first place finishes including Ben Macalalad (Fr.- Wausau, WI/West) who took first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:21.06. Macalalad also took first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.99. Brian Jordan (Sr.- Madison, WI/West) took first in the men's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.39. In the 200-yard backstroke Jonathan Poppele (Fr.- Maple Grove, MN/Wayzata) took first with a time of 2:03.13. The men's Brian Dykstra (Jr.- Racine, WI/Horlick) took the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Dykstra took first in the one-meter diving event with a score of 293.00 and he took first in the three-meter diving event with a score of 257.75. The swimming and diving teams are now done with competition in the year 2007. They will go to San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 3rd for a winter training trip. Their next home meet will be Senior/Parents' Day against WIAC opponent UW-Whitewater on January 26th. - KD - |
