Foltz Penalty Kick Lifts Blugolds Over Carleton

EAU CLAIRE - Marcia Foltz (Jr. -Madison/Memorial) scored on a penalty kick in the second overtime to lift the UW-Eau Claire soccer team to a 1-0 win over Carleton College here today at the Bollinger Fields.
The game stayed scoreless for over 102 minutes with Blugold goalie Annie Scharenbroich (So.-White Bear Lake, MN/South) and Carleton goalie Jenna Bernhardson stopping everything that came their way.
The Blugolds evened their record at 5-5 when Foltz scored her fifth goal of the year at the 102:49 mark.
Eau Claire outshot Carleton 11-4 and had eight corner kicks compared to just two for Carleton.
The Blugolds will resume with Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play when the travel to River Falls to take on the Falcons Tuesday. The match is set to kick off at 4 p.m.
