Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Beth Lutz Earns All-American Honors Posted: Saturday, November 17, 2007 NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Leading the UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team to an eighth place finish out of 32 teams at the 2007 NCAA Division III Championships, Beth Lutz (Jr. -Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) received All-American honors for her 29th place finish. Lutz completed the 6 kilometer course with a time of 22:03, just over one minute more than the top place finisher. Last year, Lutz finished in 46th place at nationals. To be named an All-American, a runner must finish in the top 35 at nationals. Only 11 other Blugold women's cross country runners have earned an All-American title, and since the team joined the NCAA in 1993 (NAIA before that time), only three have been named All-Americans. Kristin Diestelmeier was the last Blugold to receive the honor in 2000 for a 15th place finish. The other two came in 1997 when Jennifer Deitte and Jennifer Kinlund finished one second behind each other in 33rd and 35th place, respectively. - KM - |
