MADISON, Wis. - UW-Eau Claire head football coach Todd Glaser has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (WIAC) George Chryst Coach of the Year recipient, conference sports information director Matt Stanek announced today.

Glaser is in his second year as the Blugolds' head coach and led his team to a second place finish in the WIAC this season with an 8-2 record. He is only the second coach in program history to lead his team to an NCAA Division III post-season appearance with the first being Bob Nielson in 1998.

The only other coaches to receive coach of the year honors two seasons after starting his career in the WIAC was George Chryst, who the award is named for. He coached Platteville from 1979 to 1992 and received the conference's first coach of the year award in 1980. Current UW-La Crosse head coach Larry Terry received the award three years after being named head coach at La Crosse.

A Blugold head football coach has only received WIAC Coach of the Year honors two other times in program history. Link Walker, who coached the Blugolds from 1968 to 1986 was recognized twice (1981 and 1983).

Glaser, who was an assistant with the Blugolds on the 1998 team that went to the NCAA playoffs, was also defensive coordinator for the team in 2001 and 2002. He then took over as head coach at Marietta College (Ohio) in 2003. He coached at Marietta for three seasons (2003 to 2005) and directed the team to its first back-to-back non-losing seasons in 2003 and 2004. For his efforts, he was named the Ohio Athletic Conference's coach of the year in 2004 after his team finished with a 6-4 record.
