Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Soccer Falls To Oshkosh In Final Minutes Posted: Friday, October 1, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team fell to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent UW-Oshkosh 2-1 in the final minutes today at the Bollinger Fields. The Titans opened up the scoring getting a hold of a loose ball and putting it past Blugold goalie Annie Scharenbroich (So.-White Bear Lake, MN/South) at the 9:23 mark. The rest of the first half went scoreless. The Blugolds tied the game early in the second half when Becky Sitter (Fr.-Waupaca) scored her third goal of the year on a loose ball at the 48:19 mark. The game remained tied until the 85th minute when Nicole Kunick dribbled through the defense and found the back of the net to put Oshkosh up 2-1. Eau Claire was outshot 13-9 but had seven corner kicks compared to four for the Titans. Scharenbroich and Oshkosh goalie Christine Wojtanowski each made five saves. The loss was the first loss in the conference this year for the Blugolds dropping them to 1-1 in the WIAC and 4-5 overall. The Titans improve to 6-2-1 on the year. Eau Claire will be in action next when they host Carleton College Sunday at the Bollinger Fields. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. - JL - |
