Soccer Scores Four To Beat Superior

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team jumped to an early lead against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponent UW-Superior tonight and never looked back winning 4-0.

The Blugolds 5-0-1 in the WIAC and 12-1-2 overall moved into a tie for first place with UW-Stevens Point today after their win over the Yellowjackets today at the Bollinger Fields.

Eau Claire jumped on the board at the 11:21 mark in the first half with a goal from Sam Krueger (So.- Elkhorn, WI) her second of the season. Liz Hunter (Fr.- Stevens Point, WI) scored her first goal of the season to make it 2-0 at the 37:33 mark in the first half. Allison Smith (Jr.- Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) had the assist on the goal, her sixth of the season. Hunter scored with a header off of Smith's corner kick.

The Blugolds went into half time up 2-0. Allie Rivard(Jr.- Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) was in the net for Eau Claire in the first half, Rivard had no saves and no shots goal.

Eau Claire scored about 20 minutes into the second half at the 65:02 mark. Amy Smith (Jr. Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) scored her 10th goal of the season to make the score 3-0 Blugolds.

Allison Muer (Jr.- Minneapolis, MN/South) the fourth and final goal of the game and her second of the season at the 83:29 mark. Haelee Maurer (Fr.- Appleton, WI/West) had the assist on the goal.

Superior had one shot on goal in the game and it came in the second half. Liz Weirick (Sr. Kenosha, WI/Tremper) took the net for the Blugolds in the second half and had one save on one faced shot.

The Blugolds had 33 shots in the game, 13 of which were on net. Eau Claire also had eight corner kicks in the contest.

Up next for the Blugolds is a conference match against UW-Platteville on Saturday at the Bollinger Fields at 2:00 p.m. On Sunday, Eau Claire will take on St. Thomas (MN) on Senior Day for the Blugolds at the Bollinger Fields at 2:00 p.m.
