WHITEWATER, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team defeated UW-Whitewater today, with a 4-0 victory at Fiskum Field in Whitewater.

The Blugolds are now 8-0-1 on the season and have a 2-0-0 record in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In the teams' last four meetings, the Blugolds own a 3-0-1 record, having tied the Warhawks in 2004, and are 16-2-1 all-time against the Warhawks.

The Blugolds got on the board early today, scoring their first goal only three minutes into the game. Freshman Haelee Maurer (Appleton, Wis./West) scored the goal with an assist going to Amy Smith (Jr.-Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson). The Blugolds then struck again quickly, netting their second goal five minutes later. Amy Smith scored the goal and Liz Kooistra (Jr.-Lakeville, Minn.) had the assist.

Amy Smith struck again for the Blugolds in the first period, scoring an unassisted goal 26 minutes into the game. The final goal of the game came with 28 minutes remaining in the contest. Ashley McEachern (Fr.-Hermantown, Minn.) scored the goal on an assist from Sara Aschenbrener (So.-Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake).

In goal, Liz Weirick (Sr.-Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) and Allie Rivard (Jr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) split duties, with Weirick playing in the first period and Rivard playing in the second. Neither had a save because the Blugold defense played tough and allowed only one shot, with none on goal. The Blugolds had 15 shots, with ten in the first half and five in the second.

The Blugolds face another conference opponent this Wednesday, as they travel to Menomonie to take on UW-Stout. The game is set for 7 p.m.
