MOORHEAD, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team won its third straight game today, defeating Concordia-Moorhead 1-0.
In a tough match, the first and only goal of the game was scored early in the second period. Amy Smith (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) scored her first goal of the season about 54 minutes into the game, unassisted.
Coming into the game, both teams had an average shot total in double-digits. The Blugolds averaged 22 shots per game and the Cobbers averaged 23 shots per game. However, in today's game, the Blugolds only took seven shots, while the Cobbers only took four.
Both the Blugold goalkeeper, Allie Rivard (Jr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata), and the Cobber goalkeeper played the entire 90 minutes and had two saves.
The Blugolds will be back in action on day two of the Cobber Invite, as they will face St. Scholastica at 2:30 p.m. in Moorhead.
