Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Track & Field Announces Team Award Winners Posted: Monday, June 18, 2007 EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire men's track and field coach Chip Schneider announced the team award winners for the 2007 season. Thrower Ryan Brohmer (Sr.-La Crosse/Logan) was named the team's Most Valuable Performer. Finishing seventh in the hammer throw at the 2007 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, Brohmer was the first Blugold outdoor All-American since John Schuna in 2005 and the first All-American in the hammer throw since Dan Schmidt in 1992. Brohmer qualified for the national championships with a season-best toss of 180.7. Long and triple jumper Joe Felber (So.-Manitowoc/Lincoln) earned the Newcomer of the Year Award. Felber recorded a team-best leap of 46-5.5 in the triple jump while finishing fifth on the team in the long jump covering 21-0. Felber finished fourth in the triple jump at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships. Eric Eigenfeld (Sr.-DeForest) was presented with the Captain Award which is given to the person who is more to the team than just the points. The Blugolds finished the season with an overall record of 70-11-1 finishing fifth at the WIAC Indoor Championships and sixth at the WIAC Outdoor Championships. The indoor finish was the best team finish and score since 2002 while the Blugolds scored the most team points at the conference outdoor championships since 2002. |
