Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Norris, Greer Get Post-Season Golf Honors Posted: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 Two UW-Eau Claire men's golfers have been honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Rob Norris (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) was named to the Division III PING All-America Third Team while Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) was named to the PING All-Central Region Team. Norris was the Blugolds' top finisher in the recent NCAA Division III Championship as he tied for 19th with a 72-hole total of 307. He was the only Blugold to break 80 all four days of the national tournament, firing rounds of 79, 76, 74 and 78. There were 35 teams that participated in the nationals which were played near Indianapolis with 23 qualifying past the first 36 holes for the final two rounds. A total of 119 individuals completed 72 holes. In 19 rounds this year, Norris averaged 75.7 strokes per round for the Blugolds. He was the individual medalist in the 17-team Lawrence University Viking Invite, a one-day event on April 28. He also captured medalist honors in the 18-team, 54-hole Twin Cities Classic last fall. Greer was the Blugolds' No. 2 finisher in the national tournament, tying for 30th overall with a four-round total of 311. He carded 18-hole scores of 77, 80, 74 and 80. He was the only Blugold to play all 21 rounds in the team's 10 meets this year, averaging 75.9 strokes per round. The Blugolds finished ninth in the NCAA championship this year and won four meets'their own Frank Wrigglesworth Invitational, the Twin Cities Classic, the Border Battle in Menomonie and the St. Olaf Invite.
