Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Volleyball To Host Lisa Siegenthaler Tourney Posted: Wednesday, September 22, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire volleyball team will host seven teams at the annual Lisa Siegenthaler Memorial Tournament this weekend at the McPhee Phy. Ed. Center. The Blugolds will welcome Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference members UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, and UW-Superior. Eau Claire will also host non-conference opponents Coe College, Lakeland College, Edgewood, and Luther College. Eau Claire enters the tournament on a roll winning its last three matches to improve to 10-3 overall. The three-game win streak includes wins over Stevens Point and Superior as well as a five-game win over then 8th-ranked UW-Whitewater. Becca Carstensen (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) and Molly Menard (Jr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) lead the Blugolds in kills with 155 apiece coming into the tournament. Jenny Wolter (Jr.-Osceola) has 141 kills while having the best hitting percentage on the team among those with at least 25 attacks at .350. River Falls comes into the tournament ranked 14th in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll. The Falcons sport a 10-2 overall record and a 1-1 record in the WIAC. Their only losses came against 9th-ranked UW-Platteville and 10th-ranked Central College. Nina Petersen leads River Falls with 159 kills followed by Andrea Geehan with 131. Stevens Point comes in with a 10-4 record and a 1-2 record in the WIAC. The Pointers opened the season with a six-game winning streak but have gone 4-4 since then. Stevens Point is led by the tandem of Shelly Maus and Nichole Stahovich with 179 kills each. Superior comes into the weekend with a 3-8 record overall and a 0-3 record in the WIAC. The Yellowjackets opened with two losses then reeled off three wins followed by six consecutive losses. Superior is led in kills by Amber Bergson with 129. Lakeland comes into the tournament with a three-match win streak of their own to improve their record to 6-4 overall. Leeann Hupfer leads the Muskies with 112 kills with Heather Heberlein adding 105. Coe College started the season strong winning four of their first five games but has slumped as of late dropping their last five matches. The Kohawks are led Kristen Stock with 81 kills and Heather Noll with 74. Luther started the season with four straight loses but have since come back to win four of their last eight games to come into the tournament with a 4-8 record. Amanda Stratton leads Luther with 118 kills and a .279 hitting percentage. Edgewood enters the weekend with a two-game losing streak and a 2-7 record. Angie Bleck leads the Eagles with 87 kills and a .259 hitting percentage. The Blugolds will open up against Superior Friday at 2 p.m. and will conclude the day with an 8 p.m. match against Lakeland. - JL - |
