Softball Postponed Again
Posted: Thursday, April 26, 2007
The UW-Eau Claire softball team has been postponed again.
The Blugolds' already rescheduled doubleheader with UW-Oshkosh today has been postponed to Friday because of rain in the Oshkosh area. The two teams will square off at 3 p.m. Friday in Oshkosh.
This postponement will give the Blugolds three consecutive days of doubleheaders to close out their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference campaign. Following the Oshkosh road trip, the Blugolds will face UW-La Crosse in an Alumni and Parents Day twin bill at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Gelein Field in Carson Park.
Sunday, at 1 p.m., the Blugolds will host UW-Platteville in two games. Sunday's twin bill has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The players will be wearing wrist bands to raise awareness and honor those who have dealt with the disease. Pink Eau Claire hats will also be available for sale at $10 each with the proceeds designated toward The Breast Cancer Fund. Head coach Leslie Huntington has also pledged to donate 25 cents per fan in attendance at the doubleheader up to 2,000 fans. Any breast cancer survivors in attendance will also be recognized over the PA. The Blugolds' senior class of players will also be recognized during the course of the day.
Following this weekend's activities, the Blugolds will host the WIAC tournament May 4-5 at the Hobbs and Gelein Fields in Carson Park. The double elimination tournament will involve all nine WIAC teams and determine the conference's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III tournament.
