Lindsey Wilson College (KY), ranked third in the NAIA, won with 646 strokes. UW-Stevens Point finished in the runner-up slot with 654. Behind Eau Claire was Illinois Wesleyan at 664. William Woods University (MO) shot a 676 to round out the top five. In the coaches' poll, Eau Claire is ranked seventh, Illinois Wesleyan eighth, and Stevens Point ninth. The Blugolds shot a 332 in the second round, good for seventh-best on the 5,821-yard Ironwood Golf Course. Top honors went to Krista Burton of Lindsey Wilson College, who shot a +8 score of 151. She also had a 77-stroke round today on the par-72 course, which tied for best on the day. There were 90 golfers competing. Jesse Thompson (Sr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) was the top Blugold finisher, coming in tied for third with 159. She also shot a 77 in round two. Meghan Sobotta (Jr.-Arcadia) finished in sixth with a 161. Torie Ives (Fr.-Osseo/Osseo-Fairchild) tied for 15th on her 166-stroke effort while Bri Obermueller (Fr.-River Falls) and her 177 tally tied for 52nd. This was the first spring meet for the Blugolds. The team will be at home next when it hosts the Blugold Spring Invitational on April 28-29. Final Results- PH - |
