Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track & Field Have Record-Setting Blugold Open Posted: Saturday, April 14, 2007 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team set one school record and saw three facility records fall as the Blugolds hosted the Blugold Open here today at the Simpson Track Complex.
Liz Kooistra (So.-Lakeville, MN) broke her own school record by winning the 400-meter dash in a time of 56.64 seconds. Last year Kooistra broke the school record with a time of 56.71 on April 22, 2006 at UW-La Crosse. Kooistra also won the 200-meter dash clocking in at 26.07. Liz Faller (Sr.-Marinette) won the 100-meter hurdles setting a facility record with a time of 14.54 seconds. Faller set the facility record with a 14.49 clocking in the prelims. The previous record in the 100-meter hurdles was held by Mel Mueller of UW-Oshkosh at 14.71 seconds set on May 7, 1994. The 4 x 400-meter relay team ran the fastest time in the 15-team field finishing the event in 3:55.21. In the field events Steph Barnes (Sr.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) won the pole vault with a facility record 12-6. Barnes broke the previous record of 12-4.5 set by Angela Hilgers from UW-La Crosse on May 8, 2004. Jessica Owens (So.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) took first place in the high jump as she cleared 5-5 and won the event by two inches. Blugold runners finished 1-2 in three different distance races. Cassie Haak (Sr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) won the 1,500-meter run in 4:47.91 followed by Hannah Humbach (Fr.-Madison/Abundant Life) with a time of 4:48.20. Beth Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) won the 5,000-meter run completing the race in 17:34.84 as teammate Molly Warner (Jr.-Mosinee) took second clocking in at 17:47.17. Amber Hertz (Jr.-Baraboo) won the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:37.92 with Elly Prunty (Fr.-Antigo) finished second in 40:41.76. Bridget Bocher (Sr.-Watertown) finished second in the 3,000-meter steeple chase crossing the finish line at 11:36.94. The other facility record was set in the hammer throw by Emily King of Winona State with a toss of 184-9. Robyn Jarocki of UW-Oshkosh held the previous record of 183-10 set on May 8, 2004. Up next the Blugolds will travel to Northfield, Minnesota to compete in the Manitou Classic hosted by St. Olaf College on Sunday, April 22. Competition is set to begin at 12:00 PM. |
