Women's Golf Finishes Sixth At Iwu Classic

NORMAL, Ill. - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team went 57-over to finish in sixth place at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Golf Classic concluded here today at Ironwood Country Club.
Maggie Loney (Jr.-River Falls) finished tied for eighth following her 2-over 74 today. Loney shaved five strokes off yesterday's round to finish 9-over for the tournament.
Meghan Sobotta (Fr.-Arcadia) equaled yesterday's round of 78 to tie for 15th at 12-over for the tournament while Kelly Gerzsenyi (So.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) tied for 25th at 15-over.
Rounding out the Blugolds was Jesse Thompson (So.-Stevens Point/SPASH) tied for 48th, Andrea Kloppman (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) tied for 71st, and Mandy Madson (Fr.-Ashwaubenon) tied for 108th.
De Pauw finished first at 37-over followed by St. Mary's of Indiana, Southern Indiana, SIU Edwardsville, and Illinois Wesleyan. De Pauw's Sarah Gates took first individually going 1-over for the weekend.
The Blugolds will be on the links again when they travel to Kenosha to compete in the one-day Carthage Invitational Friday. The invite is set to begin at 10 a.m.
