Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Track & Field Places Fifth At WIAC Indoor Posted: Saturday, February 24, 2007 WHITEWATER - After being in sixth place after day one, the UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team climbed one spot today to finish fifth with 83 points at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championships at Kachel Fieldhouse. UW-La Crosse took home its sixth straight conference indoor championship with a total of 171 points. UW-Whitewater placed second with 110 points. UW-Oshkosh finished a close third with 109.50 points. UW-Stevens Point was fourth with 97 points. Following the Blugolds in sixth place was UW-Platteville with 66 points, while UW-River Falls was seventh with 27.50 points. UW-Stout was eighth with 22 points and UW-Superior was ninth with 16 points. Wes Fischer (So.-Rosemount, MN) won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.25. The time met the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard. Another provisional qualifier was the 4x400-meter relay team who finished fourth with a time of 3:20.96. Ryan Brohmer (Sr.-La Crosse, WI/Logan) was the last NCAA provisional qualifier as he finished fifth in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 55-3.5. The 4x200 relay team won its event with a school-record time of 1:29.07. Matt Crosby (Jr.-Glenwood City, WI) won the 55-meter hurdles heptathlon event with a time of 7.98. Nick Kropp (Fr.-Green Bay, WI/Preble) finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.16. Frankie Adams (So.-Burnsville, MN) finished third in the 55-meter dash, posting a time of 6.56. Josh Boehm (Jr.-Mosinee, WI) also placed third in the men's pole vault heptathlon, clearing a height of 14-3.25. Nate Woodward (Fr.-De Pere, WI) also placed well, finishing fourth in the high jump with a height of 6-2.25. The UW-Stevens Point Last Chance meet will be next Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. for those trying to make Nationals. The NCAA Indoor Championships will begin in two weeks on March 9th and 10th in Terre Haute, Indiana. - JR - |
