Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Sweeps Stout Posted: Friday, September 17, 2004 MENOMONIE - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team swept through UW-Stout winning all nine matches here today. Katie Kuzma (Jr.-Buffalo, MN) won at one singles 6-3, 6-2 to improve to 4-1 on the season. Sarah Riordan (Fr.-Appleton/North) improved to 3-1 with a 6-0, 7-5 win at two singles. Laura Geissler (So.-Coon Rapids, MN) won her first singles match on the year in a thrilling three set match. After losing the first set 7-6, Geissler came back to win the second by the same score and battled through a long third set to win 11-9. The Blugold doubles teams made quick work of the Blue Devils dropping only five games combined. The win improves the Blugolds overall record to 5-3 and their conference record to 1-1 on the year. Eau Claire will be in action next when they host Luther College tomorrow. The matches are set to start at noon. Singles No. 1 - Katie Kuzma (EC) def. Jenna Bettmann (ST) 6-3, 6-2. No. 5 - Laura Geissler (EC) def. Marie Pingry (ST) 6-7, 7-6, 11-9. No. 6 - Lindsey Lee (EC) def. Elizabeth Hanson (ST) 6-0, 6-0. Doubles No. 1 - Kuzma/Geissler (EC) def. Bettman/Hanson (ST) 8-0.
