Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track & Field Wins Third Indoor Meet Posted: Saturday, February 17, 2007 OSHKOSH - For the third time this indoor season, the UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team took home first place, winning the UW-Oshkosh Invitational today with a total of 157 points at the Kolf Sports Center. The host, UW-Oshkosh placed second with 147 points, while UW-Stevens Point took third with 103 points. Carroll College finished fourth with 59 points and Lawrence University placed fifth with 32 points. The Blugolds took first place in six of the 11 track events. Liz Kooistra (So.-Lakeville, MN) won the 200-meter dash, posting an indoor school record time of 25.85. Shalene Huth (Sr.-Appleton, WI/West) finished second with a time of 26.38. Kooistra also broke her own school record in the 400-meter run, winning with a time of 57.27. Huth won the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.00. Briana Berg (Fr.-Arcadia, WI) placed third with a time of 8.21. In the one-mile run, Mary Palmer (So.-Anoka, MN) placed first with a time of 5:17.47. Hannah Humbach (Fr.-Madison, WI/Abundant Life) finished behind her in second with a time of 5:28.75. Molly Warner (Jr.-Mosinee, WI) won the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:32.77. Finally, Liz Faller (Sr.-Marinette, WI) took first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.16. The Blugolds did not win any field event but still placed well. In the high jump Eau Claire placed second through fifth. Jessica Owens (So.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) placed second with a height of 5-5.25. Alicia Schuelke (So.-Gilman, WI) finished third with a height of 5-1.25. Megan Behl (Fr.-Watertown, WI/Lakeside Lutheran) and Alecia Ellingstad (So.-Eau Claire, WI/Elk Mound) finished fourth and fifth respectively with a height of 4-11.50. Hayley Suckow (Fr.-Elk Mound, WI) placed third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 11-1.75. Paula Crossfield (Sr.-Madison, WI/East) also placed third in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 49-8.50. The Blugolds will compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday in Whitewater. The action begins Friday at 4 p.m. - JR - |
