Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimming & Diving End Season With Triumph Over Oshkosh Posted: Saturday, February 3, 2007 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams capped off the season with decisive victories over UW-Oshkosh today at the McPhee Pool. The women scored 173 points to the 64 Titan total. That brings the women to 3-2 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets and 4-3 in all dual meets with a 12-5 overall record. The men scored 166 while Oshkosh totaled 77 points. The men rise to 2-3 in WIAC duals and 3-4 in all duals. Their overall record is 11-6. The women had a couple of multiple winners. Ann Grossklaus (Fr.-Wausau/West) took the 50 freestyle in 26.19 as well as the 100 freestyle in 56.74. Sarah Myers (Jr.-Eau Claire/North) won the 3-meter diving competition with 205.10 points and then took the 1-meter event with a 214.45 score. Many more Blugolds placed first. Jackie Blank (Fr.-Byron, MN) had an 11:27.25 1000 freestyle while Amy Stewart (Fr.-South Milwaukee) swam the 200 freestyle in 2:02.73. Emily Diehl (Jr.-Prairie du Sac/Sauk Prairie) captured first in the 400 IM on a 5:10.25 time. Mari Bodensteiner (Fr.-Red Wing, MN) clocked in at 2:19.32 in the 200 backstroke and Emily Viau (Sr.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) finished in 5:33.76 for the 500 freestyle. Jenna Spicer (So.-Hastings, MN) and her 2:36.71 time won the 200 breaststroke. As for relays, Bodensteiner, Diehl, Stewart, and Kyle Welke (Jr.-Eau Claire/North) teamed up for a 4:17.46 race in the 400 medley relay. Blank, Grossklaus, Missy Kleist (Fr.-Eau Claire/North), and Viau had a 3:48.89 400 freestyle relay for first. The men's side had two multiple winners as well. Patrick Finley (So.-Waunakee) had a 10:24.09 1000 freestyle and a 50.11 100 freestyle to win both races. Nick Peterson (Sr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) swam the 400 IM in 4:33.38 and the 200 backstroke in 2:06.93 to finish first in both. The Blugolds took the top spot several more times during the day. Matt Schultz (Fr.-Oakdale, MN/North) was the fastest in the 200 butterfly with a 2:08.84 effort. Brian Jordan (Jr.-Madison/West) completed a 5:14.43 500 freestyle and Peter Schultz (So.-Oakdale, MN/North) swam a 2:22.95 200 breaststroke. In relays, Nick Peterson, Peter Schultz, Cale Schmidt-Jackson (Sr.-Duluth, MN/East), and Bill Peterson (So.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) won the 400 medley relay in 3:48.85. Finley, Jordan, Bill Peterson, and Matt Schultz took the 400 freestyle relay on a 3:21.88 effort. On the boards, Bryan Dykstra (Jr.-Racine/Horlick) put together a 262.85 performance in the 1-meter event to place first. The teams will have a week off before competing in the WIAC Championships. The three-day event begins February 15th and concludes February 17th in Stevens Point. - PH - |
