WHITEWATER - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams came into today's UW-Whitewater Invite with the exact same records but that changed as the women won 133-107 while the men lost 135-108.

The women are now 2-2 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets, 3-3 in all dual meets, and 11-5 overall. The men drop to 1-3 in conference dual action, 2-4 in all duals, and 10-6 overall.

The biggest performers of the day were multiple winners Amy Stewart (Fr.-South Milwaukee) and Amanda Kroger (Jr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View). Both won first place in two events. Stewart had a 2:03.15 200 freestyle for one top place and a 2:24.24 swim in the 200 butterfly for the other. Meanwhile, Kroger finished 11:22.07 in the 1000 freestyle and 5:36.85 in the 500 freestyle as she notched two top spots.

In the relays, Jess Bartz (Jr.-Mauston), Emily Diehl (Jr.-Prairie du Sac/Sauk Prairie), Stewart, and Ann Grossklaus (Fr.-Wausau/West) swam a 4:19.30 400 medley relay for first. Grossklaus then teamed up with Missy Kleist (Fr.-Eau Claire/North), Emily Viau (Sr.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview), and Kyle Welke (Jr.-Eau Claire/North) to grab first in the 400 freestyle relay on a 3:50.49 time.

The top men's performance was on the boards, as Bryan Dykstra (Jr.-Racine/Horlick) took the one-meter and three-meter events. In the one-meter he had a 266.05 score while in the three-meter he garnered 239.80 points.

In swimming Nick Peterson (Sr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) took first in the 200 backstroke on a 2:06.65 effort while Patrick Finley (So.-Waunakee) put together a 5:08.63 500 freestyle for his top spot.

The Blugolds head home for their next meet. They will face UW-Oshkosh on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the McPhee Pool.
