Thu, Jun 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimming & Diving Sweeps Macalester Posted: Friday, January 19, 2007 EAU CLAIRE - Both the UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Macalester College (MN) tonight with the men winning by a score of 190-33 and the women winning by a score of 162-71 at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The men improved to an overall record of 10-5 and a dual meet record of 2-3. The women are also 10-5 and 2-3 in dual meets. The men took first place in every event tonight with their highest point total in dual meet all year. In the diving competitions, the men swept the one-meter and three-meter competitions. Bryan Dykstra (Jr.-Racine, WI/Horlick) won both the one-meter and three-meter. He won the one-meter with a score of 271.10 and the three-meter with a score of 275.35, the highest score this year. Kenny Ritt (Fr.-Racine, WI/Horlick), Brandon Blaisdell (So.-Prior Lake, MN), and Sam Wojta (Fr.-St. Paul, MN/Central) finished second, third, and fourth respectively in each event. In the swimming events, Patrick Finley (So.-Waunakee, WI) won the 1000-yard freestyle event with a time of 10:21.59. Nick Peterson (Sr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.25. He also took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.81. Brett Olsen (Fr.-New Berlin, WI/West Allis Hale) won the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 23.74. Cale Schmidt-Jackson (Sr.-Duluth, MN/East) won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.42. He also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.23. Blake Christenson (Sr.-Oshkosh, WI/North) won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.64. Bill Peterson (So.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.58. Peter Schultz (So.-Oakdale, MN/North) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.60. The 200-yard medley relay team of Cale Schmidt-Jackson, Bill Peterson, Matt Schultz (Fr.-Oakdale, MN/North), and Brett Olsen took first with a time of 1:45.70. The Blugolds won the 200-yard freestyle relay event with a time of 1:31.87. The team consisted of Patrick Finley, Brett Olsen, Bill Peterson, and Nick Peterson. The women won all but four events tonight. Emily Viau (Sr.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:16.71. Amy Stewart (Fr.-South Milwaukee, WI) took the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 2:02.90. She also took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.94, the fastest of the season. Kyle Welke (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.23. Ann Grossklaus (Fr.-Wausau, WI/West) won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.93 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.43. Jess Bartz (Jr.-Mauston, WI) took the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.54. Jaclyn Blank (Fr.-Byron, MN) won the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:29.72. Emily Diehl (Jr.-Prairie du Sac, WI/Sauk Prairie) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.98 The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jaclyn Blank, Emily Diehl, Ann Grossklaus, and Jenna Spicer (So.-Hastings, MN) won the event with a time of 1:45.33. The Blugolds will return to conference action on Saturday, January 27th when they travel to face UW-Whitewater in a dual meet. The action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. - JR - |
