Women's Basketball Returns Home To Host Platteville Saturday

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will host UW-Platteville on Saturday in the second game of a men's and women's doubleheader at Zorn Arena.
The Blugolds are 9-6 overall and 3-3 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play. Eau Claire is coming off of a 64-44 loss at UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday night and has lost two straight. The Blugolds are undefeated at home this season with a 6-0 record.
Statistically this season, the Blugolds have similar numbers to their opponents. Both the Blugolds and their opponents are averaging a little less than 60 points per game and both have a shooting percentage of 39%. Eau Claire is getting out-scored 426-401 in the first half of games this year, but are out-scoring their opponents 497-468 in the second half of games.
Michelle Burns (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) leads the Blugolds in scoring, averaging 13.1 points per game. She also leads the team, averaging 8.5 rebounds per game. She has three double-doubles this season. Heidi Arciszewski (So.-Thorp, WI) is averaging 12.5 points per game. Brittanni Hakanson (So.-Wheeler, WI/Boyceville) is averaging 8.3 points per game and is shooting 92% from the free throw line. The Blugolds as a team lead the conference, shooting 78% from the free throw line.
The Pioneers have an overall record of 8-7 this season and conference record of 2-4. Platteville is coming off of a 69-50 loss to UW-Whitewater on Wednesday night. The Pioneers have lost three of their last four games.
Platteville is averaging a little less than 65 points per game this season and are shooting 43% from the field. The Pioneers are averaging 20 turnovers per game and have an assist-to-turnover ratio of 0.5.
Liz Tesch leads the Pioneers in scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game. Lisa Wubben is second on the team averaging 11.8 points per game. Liz Wisdom is averaging 10.2 points per game and leads the team averaging 6.8 rebounds per game. She has made 57% of her field goals and has 21 blocks this season.
The Blugolds have won nine straight against the Pioneers and are 40-12 all-time against Platteville. The Blugolds won last year's meeting by an average margin of 11.5 points per game.
The Blugolds and Pioneers will tip-off after the men's game and will start approximately around 5 p.m. in Zorn Arena. It will also be Parents Night at Zorn Arena.
