Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Basketball Blows Out Lions Posted: Saturday, December 16, 2006 HANCOCK, MI - With four players in double-digits for points, the UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team took today's game against Finlandia University (MI) by a score of 90-57. The Blugolds improve to 6-3 while the Lions drop to 2-7. Eau Claire has a four-game winning streak. Eau Claire never trailed in the game and got off to a 15-to-2 run to start off the game. The Lions wouldn't even get within 10 the rest of the half as Eau Claire ran to a 44-28 lead at halftime. The Blugolds shot 56.7% in the half while 4-of-10 from long range and 6-of-10 on free throws. Finlandia went 34.5% from the field while shooting 42.9% for threes with three makes. They also made 62.5% of their free throws. Eau Claire increased its lead in the second half went up by 30 at 13:04 with a 62-32 score. Eau Claire maintained the large cushion as the Lions could not catch up. The Blugolds took their largest lead of the day at 1:13 with a 90-55 score. Eau Claire went 53.3% for the day while shooting 52.0% from behind the arc on 13 makes. They shot 72.2% behind the line. The team outrebounded Finlandia 37-to-28. It also won the turnover battle 14-to-18 while making 22 points off turnovers. The bench provided 41 Blugold points. Luke Meier (Jr.-Cross Plains/Middleton) scored 15 to lead the team. Jared Bardon (Jr.-DeForest) was right behind him at 14. Zack Ryan (Jr.-Lake Elmo, MN/Tartan) had 12 and Dan Beyer (Jr.-Waukesha/Catholic Memorial) had 11. Geoff Probst (Fr.-Moose Lake, MN/U. of North Dakota) pulled down nine boards to lead in that category. The Lions were kept to 39.2% from the field while going 40.0% behind the arc. Finlandia also shot 61.1% from behind the line. Eau Claire will next be in action on December 29th when the team hosts the Holiday Classic.
