Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Falls To Whitewater In Opener Posted: Friday, September 10, 2004 WHITEWATER - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team fell 7-2 to UW-Whitewater in the season opener here today. Sarah Riordan (Fr.-Appleton/North) opened her Blugold career with a win at number two singles. Riordan defeated last year's top number three singles player in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Autum Wilkowski 6-3, 6-4. Fellow freshman Kristie Carlson (Fr.-Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View) was also victorious in her Blugold debut winning at four singles 7-5, 4-6, 7-5. The Blugolds battled hard in doubles action but lost close matches at number one and three doubles. Eau Claire will be in action next when they compete in the Warhawk Invite here tomorrow. The invite is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Singles No. 1 - Kristin Chamberlain (WW) def. Katie Kuzma (EC) 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. No. 2 - Sarah Riordan (EC) def. Autum Wilkowski (WW) 6-3, 6-4. No. 3 - Nicole Stamm (WW) def. Alli Taplin (EC) 6-4, 6-3. No. 4 - Kristie Carlson (EC) def. Maggie Seitz (WW) 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 No. 5 - Kara Theis (WW) def. Laura Geissler (EC) 6-3, 6-1. No. 6 - Andrea Aliota (WW) def. Molly Hunt (EC) 6-4, 7-5. Doubles No. 1 - Chamberlain/Wilkowski (WW) def. Kuzma/Geissler (EC) 9-7. No. 2 - Stamm/Theis (WW) def. Carlson/Riordan (EC) 8-2.
