The Blugolds started off the season with a 3-1 defeat of Augsburg but have since dropped back-to-back matches against Loras College and St. Thomas to fall to 1-2 on the season. The Scots come in with a perfect 2-0 record after topping UM-Morris 3-0 and Augsburg 4-1. Eau Claire has had little success against Macalester in the past, posting just a 1-5-1 all-time record against the Scots. The two teams met last September, when Macalester shut out the Blugolds by a score of 2-0. Eau Claire has lost three matches in a row to the Scots, dating back to 1994. Marcia Foltz (Jr.-Madison/Memorial) leads the Blugolds in points and shots early in the season, tallying one goal and one assist for three points. The junior forward has fired seven shots on goal, also tops on the team. Four different Blugolds are tied for second on the team with two points, all tallying a lone goal through Eau Claire's first three games. Annie Borton and Katie Pastorius have powered the Macalester offense two games into the Scots season. Borton has already tallied three goals and an assist for seven points while Pastorius has one goal and three assists for five points. Louisa Bigelow has played all 180 minutes in net for Macalester, allowing just the one goal to Augsburg. The match between the Blugolds and the Scots will kick off at 2:00 p.m. at the Bollinger Fields. - DN - |
