Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swim Teams Win All But One Event Posted: Saturday, November 4, 2006 RIVER FALLS - The UW-Eau Claire men's swim team won every event and the women's swim team won all but one event in defeating UW-River Falls here Saturday. In notching their first dual meet victories of the season, the men posted a 169-46 triumph while the women won by a 166-55 margin. Freshman Jaclyn Blank (Byron, MN) and junior Emily Diehl (Prairie du Sac/Sauk Prairie) were double winners for the women while sophomore Patrick Finley (Waunakee), junior Brian Jordan (Madison/West) and sophomore Peter Schultz (Oakdale, MN/North) each won a pair of events for the men. Blank won both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events while Diehl was a winner in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Jordan won the 1000 freestyle and the 100 backstroke while Finley doubled in the 50 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. Schultz captured the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke. Finley's times were the Blugolds' fastest of the season in those events as were Diehl's. Both the men and the women won the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay. Other men's winners were freshman Kris Metje (Cape Girardeau, MO/Central) in the 200 freestyle, sophomore Bill Peterson (Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) in the 100 freestyle, senior Nick Peterson (Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) in the 100 backstroke and freshman Kenny Ritt (Racine, WI/Horlick) in the 1-meter diving. Other women's winners were senior Alissa Condra (Rhinelander) in the 100 butterfly, freshman Ann Grossklaus (Wausau/West) in the 100 freestyle, freshman Mari Bodensteiner (Red Wing, MN) in the 100 backstroke and junior Sarah Myers (Eau Claire/North) in 1-meter diving. The Blugold swim teams will be out of competition until Nov. 18 when they host the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Relays in the McPhee pool. - TP - |
