Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf Opens Season With Host Invite Posted: Friday, September 3, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team will open the 2004 season hosting 12 teams at the UW-Eau Claire Invite Saturday and Sunday at Mill Run and Wild Ridge Golf Courses. The Blugolds return five of their top six golfers from last year's team and will be led by the return of Maggie Loney (Jr.-River Falls). Loney shot the lowest average round in the fall and spring seasons with an average round under 82. Five schools from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference are participating including UW-Oshkosh. The Titans took first overall in the WIAC Championships and finished fourth in the NCAA Division III Championships, 23 strokes ahead of Eau Claire. UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, and UW-Whitewater will also compete. Seven non-WIAC schools will compete including Gustavus Adolphus. The Golden Gusties finished 11 strokes behind the Blugolds to take sixth at the Division III Championships a year ago. Other teams competing include Carthage College, Illinois Wesleyan University, Luther College, College of St. Benedict, St. Mary's University, and the University of St. Thomas. The invite will tee off at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mill Run Golf Course with the final round teeing off with a shotgun start 9 a.m. Sunday at Wild Ridge Golf Course. |
