10 Letterwinners, Three Transfers On Women's Roster
Posted: Friday, October 20, 2006
Ten letterwinners, three transfers and four freshmen make up the 17-player 2006-07 UW-Eau Claire women's basketball roster, announced today by seventh-year head coach Tonja Englund.
Of the 10 letterwinners, seven were starters at one time or another last year although none of the seven started more than 21 of the Blugolds' 26 games as the team finished with a 13-13 season mark.
Junior Amanda Zenner, sophomore Heidi Arciszewski and sophomore Brittanni Hakanson each started 15 or more games last year. Junior Michelle Burns and junior Rachel Mueggenborg both were in starting roles when they went down with injuries. Burns missed 11 games and Mueggenborg 12.
Also starting a few games were junior Angie Foschi and 6-2 sophomore Ashley Anderson.
The other returning letterwinners are sophomores Pam Kaye and Heather Witt.
Sophomore Missy Fremstad and junior Kali Houselog are joining the team after transferring from MSU-Moorhead while 6-3 junior Erin Voelker played at Madison Area Tech the past two years.
The true freshmen are 6-0 Jodi Lindner from Neillsville, 5-11 Rachel Lubeck from Durand, 5-10 Daidre Green from Marshfield Columbus and 5-9 Ali Gillberg from Drummond.
Based on athletic eligibility, there will be no seniors on the team with six juniors, seven sophomores and four freshmen. The team will have four players at 6-0 or taller with another five at either 5-10 or 5-11.
The squad will include seven players from within a 50-mile radius of Eau Claire and only two from out of state.
The Blugolds will go on display for the public in the annual Blue & Gold intrasquad game, Wednesday, November 1 at 6 p.m.
