Women's Tennis Tops Titans To Go 10-0 In Dual Meets

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team completed its fifth 9-0 sweep of the season today by defeating UW-Oshkosh at the Simpson Courts.
The team is undefeated in dual meets and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets with records of 10-0 and 5-0. It stands atop the conference with the only other WIAC team unbeaten in conference play being UW-La Crosse with a 4-0 record. This match drops the Titans to 1-7 overall with an 0-5 WIAC mark.
In doubles, Sarah Riordan (Jr.-Appleton/North) and Laura Geissler (Sr.-Coon Rapids, MN) improved to 10-2 with an 8-2 score. Kristie Carlson (Jr.-Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View) and Brenna McCormick (Fr.-Greendale) won 8-3, as did Liz Deprey (Jr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame) and Gina Dahl (Fr.-Fort Atkinson). The No. 2 duo is now 8-1 and the No. 3 partnership is 6-1.
In singles, Riordan took her match 6-0, 6-1 and now has a 12-3 record. Dahl is 11-2 with 7-5, 6-0 finals. Carlson posted scores of 6-2, 6-0 and now holds an undefeated 10-0 mark like her team.
Geissler won 6-2, 6-1 to climb to 6-3. Deprey tallied a 6-4, 6-3 victory and is now 5-2. McCormick has a 6-1 mark after today's 6-1, 6-0 performance.
The last time the Blugolds had five 9-0 sweeps in the fall season was 2002
Next Saturday is the last match for the team and it's an important conference one against La Crosse. It travels to La Crosse at 11:00 a.m. for the battle of the unbeatens.
