Women's Tennis Wins In Head-To-Head Over WIAC Opponent

WHITEWATER - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis squad won 6-3 over UW-Whitewater today for its third victory of the season and its first against a team in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
The Blugolds swept through the doubles portion of the day. Sarah Riordan (Jr.-Appleton/North) and Laura Geissler (Sr.-Coon Rapids, MN) won 8-2 for the No. 1 competition. The No. 2 squad of Kristie Carlson (Jr.-Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View) and Brenna McCormick
(Fr.-Greendale) squeaked out an 8-6 victory, as did the third duo of Liz Deprey (Jr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame) and Gina Dahl (Fr.-Fort Atkinson).
Three singles matches ended in Eau Claire's favor. Carlson won 6-4, 7-6 for hers. Deprey put up scores of 6-4 and 6-2 while McCormick triumphed 6-4, 6-4.
The Warhawks, who are now 1-3, host tomorrow's Whitewater Invite with opening matches starting at 9:00 a.m.
