Men's Track Ends Up In Sixth At Championships

OSHKOSH - The UW-Eau Claire men's track team dropped from fifth to sixth in day two of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships.

UW-La Crosse defended its crown with 247 points. UW-Whitewater was the runner-up while tallying 194.5. The home team, UW-Oshkosh, posted 98 while UW-Platteville followed them with 94.5. UW-Stevens Point's 75 placed the Pointers ahead of Eau Claire's 56 total. Seventh place went to UW-Stout with 47 points. With 32 points, UW-River Falls placed eighth while UW-Superior brought up the rear on a 13 point showing.

Matt Crosby (Fr.-Glenwood City) took second in one of the decathlon events today. His 110-meter hurdle run of 16.02 was good for the two spot and was his fastest this year.

On a time of 3:17.06, the 4x400-meter relay team took second.

The 4x100-meter relay squad tied the team's best mark this season in its fourth place finish. Frankie Adams (Fr.-Burnsville, MN), Nick Aliota (Jr.-Brookfield/Central), Chris Kupfer (Fr.-Germantown), and Bryan Tschudy (Fr.-New Richmond) posted a 42.75 time.

The fourth best time in the 1500-meter run went to Adam Wolfe (So.-Marshfield) this afternoon. He ran a season-best 3:59.17 for the placement.

Aliota grabbed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles on his fastest time of the year. He had a 15.21 race. He came in ranked sixth for the WIAC.

Al Oleson (Jr.-Wausau/West) placed fifth in the shot put today. He had a season-long throw of 15.31 meters (50?23/4"). Oleson took 11th in this event last year and came in 11th for the conference.

Eau Claire has three last chances before the NCAA Division III National Championships. The first one is the North Central Last Chance meet next Friday in Naperville, IL.
