Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track Excels At Kip Janvrin Open Posted: Saturday, April 29, 2006 INDIANOLA, IA - The name of the meet may have changed from the Simpson Twilight Classic to the Kip Janvrin Open, but the UW-Eau Claire women's track team had the same successful results at Simpson College's annual late-evening event. Stephanie Barnes (Jr.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) was the pole vault champ with a display of 3.94 meters (12?11"), more than .25 meters (93/4") better the next competitor. She took the only top placement for the team today with that season-best performance. Eau Claire had a number of third places, including one person who grabbed two. Liz Faller (Jr.-Marinette) finished third in the 100-meter hurdles on a 15.16 time. She also excelled in the field with a third-place showing in the long jump, where she went a season-high 5.29 meters (17?41/4"). Liz Kooistra (Fr.-Lakeville, MN) timed in at 2:14.25 to take third in the 800-meter run. It is her best performance in the event this season. Anna Sutherland (Fr.-Roseville, MN) also cracked the top five with a fourth place 13.14 100-meter dash. Kjersten Holt (So.-Long Prairie, MN/LP Grey Eagle) also claimed a fourth place. She went 26.25 in the 200-meter dash, which is her season-best. Jane-Marie Ovanin (Sr.-Amherst) was the only fifth-place Blugold of the day. She nabbed that placement in the 5000-meter run in 18:15.05. It is her best time this season. The Blugolds will next be in action for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships in Oshkosh. They run next Friday and Saturday. - PH - |
