Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Softball To Host Final Home Doubleheaders Of The Season Posted: Thursday, April 27, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The sixth-ranked UW-Eau Claire softball team will host conference opponent UW-Oshkosh in a doubleheader on Saturday and then host non-conference opponent St. Mary's University in a doubleheader on Sunday. The Blugolds doubleheader today against Luther College was cancelled due to a backup of makeup conference games for Luther. The Blugolds have an overall record of 28-4 this season and have won 22 of the last 23 games. The Blugolds are 12-0 in conference games this season and have won 15 straight WIAC games over the past two seasons. The Blugolds have two batters hitting over .400 this season. Leading the team is Rachel Paulus (Jr.-Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln) at .435 and second on the team is Casey Leisgang (So.-Seymour, WI) at .400. Both were instrumental in the game two come from behind win against UW-Whitewater on Sunday. As a team the Blugolds are batting .337, which is second in the conference as of April 24th. The Blugolds have hit 27 home runs as a team this season, just one shy of the team record of 28 set last year. The Blugolds are also on pace to break the team record for fielding percentage. UWEC is currently has a fielding percentage of .962 and the current team record is .960 set back in 2001. Mallory McKinney (Jr.-Brooklyn Park, MN/Champlin Park) is 18-1 this season and is the best pitcher in the conference with a 0.60 ERA. Only in her junior season, McKinney broke the team record for strikeouts in a career in the first game of the doubleheader against UW-Whitewater on Sunday as she currently has 346. The Blugolds will face UW-Oshkosh in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Titans currently have an overall record 23-13 overall record and a 10-2 conference record. The Titans, who are second in the conference, are coming off of a split against UW-Stevens Point yesterday. The Titans have a batting average of only .274 this season. Leading the Titans in batting is Whitney Tyriver, who is batting .421. The Titan pitching staff has been tough this season. The pitching staff has a collective ERA of 1.25 this season and is led by Ronessa Stampfli, who is 16-8 with a 0.77 ERA. The Titans own the advantage in the all-time series as they have won 25 of the 40 contests. The Titans have also won the past two meetings. On Sunday, the Blugolds will face St. Mary's University. The Cardinals have an overall record of 21-11 this season. The Cardinals are also batting under.300 this season as they have a batting average of .279. The Cardinals have hit 20 more doubles than their opponents this season. They also have 111 RBIs, compared to 60 by their opponents. On the mound, the Cardinals have a team ERA of 1.71. Jenny Schipp leads the staff with nine wins and a 1.36 ERA. The Blugolds are only 7-13 all-time against the Cardinals and were swept in a doubleheader last year. The doubleheader against UW-Oshkosh will begin at noon on Saturday and the doubleheader against St. Mary's will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
