Tue, Jun 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Drake Relays Upcoming For Men's Track Posted: Wednesday, April 26, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's track team looks forward to a busy upcoming weekend with the Simpson Twilight Open for some and the large-scale Drake Relays for others. Drake University's Drake Relays has become an impressive track and field event. It runs from Thursday through Saturday in Des Moines, IA and will feature an astounding array of athletes from high schoolers to former Olympians. Each day brings in thousands of spectators with the Saturday events drawing the largest crowds. The Saturday crowd has been a sell-out one for 40 consecutive years. Last year's Saturday total was 18,000 spectators at Drake Stadium. There are four relay squads going for the men's side. The 4x100-meter team will showcase Chris Kupfer (Fr.-Germantown), Bryan Tschudy (Fr.-New Richmond), Nick Aliota (Jr.-Brookfield/Central) and Frankie Adams (Fr.-Burnsville, MN). Kupfer, Tschudy, and Aliota will join up with Adam Koger (Jr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) for the 4x200-meter relay. Blugold competitors in the 4x800-meter relay team include Adam Wolfe (So.-Marshfield), Joey Veriga (Jr.-Cudahy), Ben Brossard (So.-Green Bay/Southwest), and Wes Fischer (Fr.-Rosemount, MN). Aliota, Tschudy, Kupfer and Wolfe will run the sprint medley for Eau Claire. The events for any Blugold participants will occur either this Friday or Saturday, depending on the event, at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, IA. |
