Tue, Jun 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf Wins The UW-Oshkosh Invite Posted: Friday, April 21, 2006 NEENAH - The seventh-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's golf team won the seven-team UW-Oshkosh Invitational today with a score of 328 and Meghan Sobotta (So. -Arcadia, WI) placed first individually at Westridge Golf Course. The Blugolds won by 16 strokes over second place UW-Oshkosh, who had a score of 344. In third place was UW-Stevens Point with a score of with a score of 354. In fourth was UW-Whitewater with a score of 374. Sobotta shot par (36) on the front nine and then shot a 37 (+1) on the back nine to win by five strokes over second place. This is Sobotta's second individual title this year as she won the Carthage College Invitational in September. Maggie Loney (Sr.-River Falls, WI) finished in third place overall with a score of 79 (+7) just one stroke behind second place. Jesse Thompson (Jr.-Plover, WI/SPASH) finished in seventh place after she posted a score of 84 (+12). Kim Huber (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) and Becky Washleski (Fr.-Cambridge, MN/Cambridge-Isanti) both shot a 92 (+20) and tied for 18th-place. Sarah Hansen (So.-Bangor, WI) shot a 100 (+28) and finished tied for 29th. The Blugolds finished second overall out of 10 teams at the UW-Oshkosh Invite in the fall. The Blugolds end their spring regular season with a record of 25-5 and will now focus on Nationals, which will take place May 9th-12th in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. - JR - |
