Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Track Ready For Home Meet Posted: Wednesday, April 12, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - This Friday the UW-Eau Claire men's track team will host its one outdoor home event, the Blugold Open. The team has competed in two outdoor events thus far. The Blugolds took second out of nine at Augustana College's Viking Olympics. Augustana had 252 points in that invite while Eau Claire had just half a point less at 251.5. The other event was the Falcon Invite, hosted by UW-River Falls, which did not have team scores. The Blugolds excelled at both events with many championship placements. The season has seen its fair share of Blugold track winners. Frankie Adams (Fr.-Burnsville, MN) has taken first twice in the 100-meter dash. Wes Fischer (Fr.-Rosemount, MN) won the 800-meter dash. In the 5000-meter run, Ted Lillie (So.-North St. Paul, MN) finished first. Nick Aliota (Jr.-Brookfield/Central) became the 110-meter hurdles champion this season. The 4x800-meter relay team and the 4x400-meter relay teams also took first. In the field events, Eau Claire has had a number of top places. Eric Eigenfeld (Jr.-DeForest) won the triple jump. For the javelin throw, Drew Bingner (Fr.-Fort Atkinson) went the farthest. Brent Tice (Sr.-Colfax) took first in the shot put. Nick Desotelle (Fr.-Schofield/D.C. Everest) had the top performance in pole vault. The Blugolds look to gain more first places at the Blugold Open, which begins at noon at Simpson Field. |
