Women's Tennis Defeats St. Kate's In Final Home Meet

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team concluded its home season today by defeating the College of St. Catherine by a score of 6-3 at the Eau Claire YMCA Tennis Center.

The win gives the Blugolds their first of the spring season and finish with an overall dual meet record of 6-7 this year.

The Blugolds won four of the six singles matches on the day. Picking up wins for the Blugolds were Katie Kuzma (Sr.-Buffalo, MN) at No.1 singles, who defeated her opponent, 6-2, 6-3. Kristie Carlson (So.-Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View) at No.3 singles was also victorious as she also defeated her opponent, 6-2, 6-3.

No.4 singles player Liz Deprey (So.-Green Bay/Notre Dame) improved to 4-0 this spring, as she defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-2. Finally, Laura Geissler (Jr.-Coon Rapids, MN) at No.5 singles was the final Blugold singles player to win as she won 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles action, the Blugolds won two of the three matches. The No.2 doubles team of Sarah Riordan (So.-Appleton, WI/North) and Kristie Carlson won 8-4 and the No.3 doubles team of Brit Wagner (Fr.-La Crosse, WI/Central) and Kristin Neuman (So.-Green Bay/Ashwaubenon) won 8-1.

The Blugolds will conclude the spring at the Luther Invite Friday, April 14th and Saturday, April 15th.
