Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Announces Team Awards From Past Season Posted: Wednesday, March 15, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team and Coach Don Parker recently handed out team awards from this past season. Senior Derek Sikora (Sr.-Neillsville, WI) was named the Most Valuable Wrestler for the third season in a row. Sikora became the first wrestler in school history to capture a national championship a couple of weeks ago. He also won his second conference championship this season. He ended this season with a 31-2 record, including winning his last 18 matches. Justin Mc Auly (Jr.-Clintonville, WI) was named the Most Improved Wrestler. After just winning three matches last year, Mc Auly won 16 matches this season and was named as an alternate by the conference to go to the NCAA Nationals after finishing second at the conference championships. The Blugolds had a total of 20 letterwinners this season. The team also named captains for the 2006-07 season. Lance Valiquette (Jr.-Auburn, WA) and Joey Miller (So.-Lake Tomahawk, WI/Lakeland Union) were both named the captains for next season. - JR - |
