Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date All-WIAC Men's Hockey Team Announced Posted: Monday, February 27, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - Four members of the UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team were honored with an honorable mention selection to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Hockey Team today. This marks the second straight honorable mention for goalie Steffan Braunlich (Sr.-Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) and he landed on the All-WIAC first team two seasons go. Braunlich led the conference in saves this season with 691 through 23 games. This is the third season in a row he has done so. He averaged 30.04 saves a game. Of goalies in the conference that played over 15 games, Braunlich placed sixth in goals against per game with 3.50. He played 1,355 minutes. Forward Chip Dunleavy (Sr.-Littleton, CO/Columbine) collected his first honorable mention with this honor. The only Blugold All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Honorable Mention went to Dunleavy last week. He had 17 points through 13 goals and four assists. His 17 points put him 15th in the WIAC for that category. He is tied for fifth in the conference for goals scored and second in power-play goals. He collected nine of those on the season, one behind the leader. Dunleavy led the Blugolds in points, goals, and power-play goals. Fellow forward Brooks Lockwood (Jr.-Hudson) was also named honorable mention. It is his first. His 15 points were good for second on the team. His had the second-most goals with eight for Eau Claire. The eight goals are tied for ninth in the conference. Lockwood led the team in shots with 24. He had one assist and is also credited with one game-winning goal. He was also selected to the NCHA All-Academic Team last week. Another award went to defenseman Kyle Garner (Jr.-Sun Prairie). This is the second All-WIAC Honorable Mention for Garner in a row. Garner helped anchor down the defense while contributing on offense. He had nine points to tie for third on the team. They came on one goal and eight assists. The eight assists are an Eau Claire high. It also ties him for 19th in the WIAC. The team completed its 2-21-4 season after being defeated by St. Norbert in the NCHA quarterfinals February 17th and 18th. |
