Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Wins Second-Straight Conference Dual Meet Posted: Friday, February 3, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team won its second-straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet tonight, defeating UW-Oshkosh 38-6. With the victory, the Blugolds improve to 3-12 in dual meets overall and 2-3 in WIAC dual meets. The loss drops the Titans to 1-13 in dual meets overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Winners in action for the Blugolds were Josh Kasuboski (Fr.-Wautoma, WI), at 157 pounds, defeating his opponent 2-0. Derek Sikora (Sr.-Neillsville, WI), at 165 pounds, improved to 16-2 by defeating his opponent by a major decision 10-1. Lance Valiquette (Jr.-Auburn, WA), at 174 pounds, defeated his opponent in a close one 6-5. Finally, Joey Miller (So.-Lake Tomahawk, WI/Lakeland Union) at 184 pounds, won his 18th match of the season, defeating his opponent by a major decision 12-4. Next, the Blugolds will host the 28th annual Blugold Invitational tomorrow morning. Five of the top eight teams in Division III will compete in the invite. The Blugolds won eight of the ten matches. Of the eight victories four were by forfeit. Blugolds winning by forfeit were Sean Zais (Fr.-Glidden, WI) at 125 pounds, Andy Miller (Fr.-Appleton, WI/North), at 133 pounds, and Tony D'Antuono (Sr.-Waukesha, WI/South) at 149 pounds. Justin McAuly (Jr.-Clintonville, WI), at 197 pounds, also won by forfeit, after his opponent could not continue due to injury in the second period.
