Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimming & Diving Maintain Post-Break Momentum Posted: Friday, January 27, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams all won their second straight as the men defeated UW-Whitewater 188-111 and the women won 167-130. Both the men and women are 1-2 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets. The men 2-3 in all dual meets while the women stand at 3-2.
There were some relay winners as well. Peter Shafe (Jr.-Burlington), Schmidt-Jackson, Brian Hauerwas (So.-Racine/CASE), and Bill Peterson (Fr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) took first in the 200-yard medley in 1:44.53. Bill Peterson, Nick Peterson (Jr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul), Brian Schwartz (Jr.-Bemidji, MN), and Nye were the fastest in the 200-yard freestyle with a race of 1:31.42.
The relay team of Fisher, Gulia Mangini (Jr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall), Severson, and Diehl swam a 1:54.97 200-yard medley for first. Severson, Gorman, Kyle Welke (So.-Eau Claire/North), and Jenna Spicer (Fr.-Hastings, MN) then took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle on a 1:43.57 race. Scott Heatwole (Sr.-Port Washington) had 301.75 day on the 3-meters for a first place finish. He also was first in the 1-meter event, scoring 280.35 points. Brian Jordan (So.-Madison/West) took the top place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a 10:46.68 time. Jordan's 4:38.25 400-yard individual medley also was tops. In the 200-yard freestyle, Patrick Finley (Fr.-Waunakee) was first in 1:51.45. Finley also took the top prize in the 100-yard freestyle, swimming this one in 51.29. Cale Schmidt-Jackson (Jr.-Duluth, MN/East) was the 100-yard breaststroke champ, finishing in 1:04.12. Top honors in the 200-yard backstroke went to Schmidt-Jackson and his 2:04.88 time. He also took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a 55.94 race. Chris Nye was the fastest 50-yard freestyle swimmer, doing it in 22.86. Peter Schultz (Fr.-Oakdale, MN/North) was the best 200-yard breaststroke performer, capturing first in 2:25.37.
Sarah Fisher (So.-Milton) took top honors in the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:04.29 swim. Emily Diehl (So.-Prairie du Sac/Sauk Prairie) claimed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:10.54 effort. In the 200-yard butterfly, Annie Gorman (Sr.-Menomonie) nabbed first with a 2:20.53 display. Cori Severson (Sr.-Brainerd, MN) was the winner of the 50-yard freestyle race in 24.73. Severson also was first in the 100-yard freestyle on a 54.90 time. Emmie Lee (So.-Zimmerman, MN/Elk River) was the 200-yard backstroke champ with a 2:17.23 swim. The top prize in the 200-yard breaststroke went to Diehl and her 2:32.99 race. Emily Viau (Jr.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) was the fastest 400-yard individual medley performer with a 5:05.21 time.
