Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball To Host Platteville Saturday Posted: Thursday, January 26, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will look to get back to winning ways as it will host UW-Platteville in the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader to be held in Zorn Arena Saturday night. The Blugolds will come into the contest with a 9-10 overall record and a 4-6 conference record. The Pioneers have an overall record of 8-9 and have a conference record of 4-5. The Blugolds defeated the Pioneers just two weeks ago by a score of 71-60. The Blugolds have won four of their last five games, but are coming off of a loss to rival UW-Stout on Wednesday. The Blugolds will need a good scoring effort from Brittanni Hakanson (Fr.-Wheeler, WI/Boyceville) as she is the team's second leading scorer this season, averaging 10.3 points per game. Rachel Becker (Sr.-Gilmanton, WI), who has played well the last four games, will also be a factor in the ballgame. The Blugolds as a team have handled the ball very well this season, as they are second in the conference in the assists-to-turnover ratio. The Blugolds are averaging 14.4 assists per game. The Pioneers are also coming off of a loss to UW-Stout as they lost by a score of 61-52 last Saturday. Holly Kaiser leads the Pioneers in scoring this season, averaging 14.6 points per game. The Pioneers have the top scoring defense in the conference as they are holding their opponents to just 57.2 points per game. They also have the top perimeter defense in the conference as they are holding their opponents to just 24.7% from three. The Blugolds have won the last eight meetings between the two schools and are 39-12 all-time against the Pioneers. The tip-off is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. on Saturday night in Zorn Arena. - JR - |
